They can’t be serious…June 8, 2011
Seen on an editors’ email discussion list I’m on:
This came into our Inboxes on Tuesday afternoon — just two and a bit days before the thesis is due. And the information added by the discussion list moderator was about ‘providing a quote’.
Assuming a quote was provided and accepted immediately (unlikely as there’s usually negotiations around quotes), it’s likely that whoever took on this work (not me!) couldn’t start until late Tuesday. It’s for a university thesis, not an assignment, so I’d expect the word count to be around 15,000 to 30,0000 words. And if it’s all written like this, then whoever takes on the job has their work cut out for them.
I expect that the thesis took months to write, yet they want it edited in two days? They’re dreaming!
