A $20K proofreading error

April 24, 2010

Oops! (from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8627335.stm)

  1. Looks like someone left it entirely to the automated spell checker, but on the other hand, if the target audience was a tribe of cannibals…

  2. And there’s Verizon’s $1.67 billion typo (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100810/bs_nm/us_verizon_pensionplan_typo).

No word on how much this typo cost to fix, but it indeed is the stupidest spelling mistake you can make in this particular location (http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20100811/od_yblog_upshot/behold-americas-educational-system-captured-in-a-single-photograph). And it’s interesting that the text *in the URL* is a far better headline than the one actually used in the news article. (I *am* from the U.S., so I get to make that observation.)
