Word: Replace a style

To replace a style in a Word document with another style

  1. Open the Find and Replace window (Ctrl+H).
  2. Click the More button.
  3. Click the Format button then select Style.
  4. On the Find Style window, select the style you want to replace, then click OK. The style you selected should be listed immediately below the Find what field.
  5. Click in the Replace with field.
  6. Click the Format button then select Style.
  7. On the Find Style window, select the style you want to replace the first style with, then click OK. The style you selected should be listed immediately below the Replace with field.
  8. Click Replace All.

To replace a style with nothing

Warning: Be careful!! This removes both the style and ANY text that uses that style.

  1. Open the Find and Replace window (Ctrl+H).
  2. Click the More button.
  3. Click the Format button then select Style.
  4. On the Find Style window, select the style you want to replace, then click OK. The style you selected should be listed immediately below the Find what field.
  5. Click in the Replace with field. DO NOT enter anything.
  6. Click Replace All.
