Getting Help

March 14, 2008

Windows keyboard shortcuts to get Help:

  • F1—Opens the current application’s Help; if you press it on the desktop, the Windows Help opens.
  • Windows key + F1—Opens the Windows Help. (Typically, the Windows key—sometimes called the Start key—is to the immediate right of the CTRL key at the bottom left of the keyboard.)
  • Shift+F1 then click on an item on the screen (menu, toolbar, button, field)—Opens the “What’s This?” Help giving you a description of what you clicked. Note: Not all applications use “What’s This?” Help.
